The articles, headlines, graphics and page designs on this site are ours, and are protected by copyright. You may quote a reasonable extract for the purposes of criticism, review or news reporting, provided you credit The Moiré Edit and link to the original article. You may not republish an article in full, whether on a website, in print, or in a newsletter, without asking us first. We usually say yes.
Photographs are a separate matter. Many of the images on this site are licensed from third parties or used with a photographer's permission, and that permission does not extend to you. Never lift an image from here and reuse it — go to the source.
If you send us a story tip, a photograph, a nomination or any other material — through a form, by email, or through our awards — you confirm that it is yours to send and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. You keep ownership of it. You give us permission to publish it, in whole or in part, on the site and on our social channels, with credit where it is due.
We are under no obligation to publish anything sent to us, and we may edit for length, accuracy and clarity. If you have sent us something in confidence, say so clearly when you send it and we will treat it that way.
We check what we publish, we date the figures we use, and we say plainly when something could not be verified. We are still capable of being wrong. Nothing here is offered as professional advice — financial, legal, medical or otherwise — and you should not treat it as a substitute for advice from someone qualified and paid to give it.
Where an article contains judgement or criticism, that is our honest opinion held at the time of publication on the facts then available. If you believe something we have published about you is inaccurate, tell us and we will look at it properly. Corrections are made on the article itself, not quietly.
Report a correction →Some of what we publish is paid for. Where it is, it carries a label, and the label comes first rather than last, in line with the advertising guidance in force in Ireland. If a piece is not labelled, nobody paid for it. Buying a sponsored article buys the article, never the conclusion.
We link to other websites and embed content from platforms such as TikTok. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for what they publish or how they handle your data, and a link is not an endorsement. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's terms, not ours.
We do not promise the site will always be available or free of faults. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, including individual articles, without notice. If an article is removed for legal reasons we will normally say so rather than let it vanish.
